Cebu Gateway
Mactan-Cebu Airport (CEB) is the connecting hub for the Siargao, Lanuza and San Vicente zones. This is the logistics page for the layover: where to sleep near the airport or in the city, where to eat, how the buses and shuttles run, and who rents a car or motorbike.
Getting There
Mactan-Cebu International Airport (CEB), on Mactan Island, is the connecting hub for three Philippines zones. Cebu Pacific recommends connecting through Cebu for Siargao, with about five flights a day to Siargao in roughly 1 hour. For Lanuza there are no direct Manila-Surigao flights, so the route runs through Cebu, on a Cebu-Surigao service that Cebu Pacific lists six times a week at about 50 minutes. For San Vicente, the zone page says to fly Manila or Cebu into Puerto Princesa (all reported on the zone pages). Manila to Cebu runs up to 14 flights a day on Cebu Pacific (reported on the Manila Gateway page). This site's research covers these domestic connections, so check your airline for international routings into Cebu.
Register free on the government's eTravel system within 72 hours before arrival, and use only etravel.gov.ph. US and EU passports are visa-free for 30 days with a return or onward ticket and a passport valid six months beyond your stay, and the stay can be extended through the Bureau of Immigration (reported on the Philippines entry page). Rules depend on your passport, so check the official source before you book. The full list is in Getting Into the Philippines.
Getting Out of the Airport
- To Siargao: about five Cebu Pacific flights a day, about 1 hour. See the Siargao Gateway (reported).

- To Puerto Princesa and San Vicente: fly Cebu into Puerto Princesa, then a van overland, roughly 177-186 km, 3-4 hours (reported). See the Puerto Princesa Gateway.
- Boards: Cebu Pacific's turboprop routes carry a 6 ft surfboard limit with case, and its jet routes a 9 ft limit (reported on the Manila Gateway page).

Board & Luggage Storage
We found no surf shop or board-repair business in Cebu that we could place with confidence, and every luggage-storage listing we found belongs to a network, which we leave out. Ask your hotel to hold board bags, and handle repairs before you travel or in Siargao itself.
