Secrets of Surf Travel — The World. The Waves. The Adventure.

Surigao Gateway

The Lanuza zone starts at Surigao Airport (SUG). This is the logistics page for the connection: where to sleep, where to eat, who drives, and how the coastal highway reaches Lanuza.

Researched

This gateway page is a first, light version. Every listing is a real local business found on paper and not yet verified in person; prices, hours and details are strong starting points, not gospel.

Logistics

Getting There

Surigao Airport (SUG) is the gateway for the Lanuza zone. International travelers usually land in Manila (see the Manila Gateway) or Cebu first. The zone page says there are no direct Manila to Surigao routes, so plan to connect through Cebu, which Cebu Pacific lists six times a week at about 50 minutes in the air (reported).

Register free on eTravel within 72 hours before arrival, and use only etravel.gov.ph. US and EU passports get 30 days visa-free with a passport valid six months beyond your stay and a return or onward ticket. The full entry rules, fees and official links are in Getting Into the Philippines.

Logistics

Getting Out of the Airport

  • Surigao City to Lanuza: roughly 133 km down the coastal highway, about 3-4 hours by bus or van or about 2 hours by private vehicle or hired car (reported on the zone page).
  • Board bags: the Cebu to Surigao flight may be a turboprop with a 6 ft surfboard limit, so check the aircraft before you book (reported).
  • Not a Siargao side trip: there is no direct route between Lanuza and Siargao. The realistic path is road to Surigao City, then the ferry to Dapa, about 6 hours door to door (reported).
Logistics

Other Gateways for This Zone

  • Surigao (SUG): the realistic gateway for Lanuza (this page).
  • Butuan (BXU): Cebu Pacific lists direct Manila to Butuan flights five times a day, but the zone page could not confirm the Butuan to Lanuza road leg (reported).
  • Tandag and Bislig: both have airports on the map, but neither has confirmed current commercial service, so they are left out as options (reported).

For the full route notes, see the Lanuza Getting There section.
