Tacloban Gateway
The Guiuan/Calicoan zone starts at Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport (TAC) in Tacloban. This is the logistics page for the connection: where to sleep the first night, where to eat, how the vans and buses reach Guiuan and Calicoan, and who rents a car or motorbike.
Getting There
Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport (TAC) in Tacloban is the gateway for the Guiuan/Calicoan zone. The zone page says Guiuan has no commercial airport reachable for tourist travel today, so Tacloban is the nearest working option. International travelers usually connect through Manila, where Cebu Pacific (about six flights a day) and Philippine Airlines fly to Tacloban, roughly 1.5 hours in the air (reported on the zone page).
Register free on the government's eTravel system within 72 hours before arrival, and use only etravel.gov.ph. US and EU passports are visa-free for 30 days with a return or onward ticket and a passport valid six months beyond your stay, and the stay can be extended through the Bureau of Immigration (reported on the Philippines entry page). Rules depend on your passport, so check the official source before you book. The full list is in Getting Into the Philippines.
